Delayed Openings and School Closings

RJWECC and WHCPS at
the JBSC in Potomac, MD
The RJWECC and WHC Primary School generally follow the Montgomery
County Public Schools' snow schedule. We have several ways to alert
you if our schools' schedules change:
Radio and internet:
listen to WTOP radio
(103.5 FM) and/or check their website,
www.wtop.com
Television:
watch WRC - NBC channel 4 and look for our
school
Email/Text Message:
Register with "School's Out" (www.schoolsout.com),
a service that will alert you via email or text message if our
school schedule changes due to weather or emergency.
The decision concerning closings or delayed openings is typically
made by 6:00 a.m. (sometimes a little later if Montgomery County
Public Schools have not announced their decision) and early
dismissal decisions will typically be announced by 11:00 a.m.
Our policy is as follows:
1. If we have a delayed opening:
A. There will be no Early Drop-Off.
B. Curbside drop-off will be in effect from 10:15 -10:30 am for
both RJWECC and WHC Primary School. WHCPS families, please use
the outer loop for curbside drop-off. If you are the scheduled
curbside drop-off parent for that day, please make sure you are
at the curb “ready to go” by 10:15 am.
C. The lobby gate will open at 10:20 am.
D. Two-year-olds must be walked to their classroom door, as
usual.
E. All programs (RJWECC, WHCPS and Tune in to Toddlers)
will begin at 10:30 am.
F. Tune In To Toddlers will meet from 10:30 am -12:00 noon
G. Morning dismissal for the RJWECC will be at 12:00 noon
instead of 11:45 am.
H. Afternoon programming, including 2's lunch, Enrichment, ACE
Club will be held as scheduled.
2. If we have an early dismissal:
A. All afternoon programs (including 2’s lunch, Enrichment
and ACE Club) will be cancelled.
B. All RJWECC students will dismiss at 11:45 am.
C. All WHC Primary School students will dismiss at 12:00
pm.
3. In the event of an emergency closure while school is
already in progress, we will notify you via phone, email or
radio/television broadcast, and you or a designated adult must pick
up your child immediately.
In any event, please use your discretion as to the condition of the
roads and the safety of your children in determining whether to
venture out in the morning or to pick your child up early even if we
have not closed the school.
We hope we won’t need to enact these policies this
winter,
but it helps to have them in place! Stay warm and dry!!
