Delayed Openings and School Closings

Edlavitch-Tyser Early
Childhood Center at the Temple
The Edlavitch-Tyser Early Childhood Center generally follows the Montgomery
County Public Schools' snow schedule. We have several ways to alert
you if our schools' schedules change:
- Radio and internet:
listen to WTOP radio
(103.5 FM) and/or check their website,
www.wtop.com
- Television:
watch WRC - NBC channel 4 and look for our
school
- Email:
turn on your computer and check for a
message from Lauren Lieberman (as long as internet connections are
up and running)
The decision concerning closings or delayed openings is typically
made by 6:00 a.m. (sometimes a little later if Montgomery County
Public Schools have not announced their decision) and early
dismissal decisions will typically be announced by 11:00 a.m.
Our policy is as follows:
1. If the Federal Government is closed, the ETECC will be closed.
2. In some instances of sudden inclement weather, the
professional staff of the ETECC may decide to close our school
before MCPS has made their decision. In that case, we will notify
you by telephone.
3. If we have a delayed opening:
A. There will be no Early Drop-Off.
B. All programs (ETECC, MY2s and Tune in to Toddlers)
will begin at 10:30 am.
C. Tune In To Toddlers will meet from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm.
D. Dismissal times for the ETECC (including 2's Lunch,
Enrichment and ACE Club) will not be affected.
4. If we have an early dismissal:
A. All afternoon programs (including 2’s lunch, Enrichment
and ACE Club) will be cancelled.
B. All ETECC students will dismiss at 12:00 pm.
5. If MCPS closes while our afternoon programs are already in
progress, our school will close. You or a designated adult must
pick up your child immediately.
6. In the event of an emergency closure while school is
already in progress,
we will notify you via phone, email or radio/television
broadcast, and you or a designated adult must pick up your child
immediately.
In any event, please use your discretion as to the condition of the
roads and the safety of your children in determining whether to
venture out in the morning or to pick your child up early even if we
have not closed the school.
We hope we won’t need to enact these policies this
winter,
but it helps to have them in place! Stay warm and dry!!
